We are looking for an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our retail store.
This is a hands-on management position suited to someone who has strong retail experience, enjoys leading a team and can effectively manage sales, stock, customer service and overall store performance.
Key Responsibilities
As Retail Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the retail store.
- Determining appropriate product ranges, stock levels and customer service standards.
- Monitoring stock movement and maintaining appropriate inventory levels to meet customer demand.
- Coordinating purchasing and ordering of stock and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers.
- Reviewing product pricing, margins and sales performance and assisting with pricing decisions.
- Planning and implementing store promotions and local marketing activities to increase sales and customer engagement.
- Monitoring daily, weekly and monthly sales performance and identifying opportunities to improve store results.
- Maintaining accurate records of stock levels, sales and financial transactions.
- Assisting with store budgeting, cost control and monitoring operating expenses.
- Recruiting, training, rostering, supervising and supporting retail staff.
- Allocating duties and monitoring staff performance to ensure efficient store operations.
- Establishing and maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Assisting customers with product enquiries and providing appropriate product advice when required.
- Managing and resolving customer enquiries, complaints and service issues professionally.
- Ensuring merchandise is appropriately displayed, priced and presented throughout the store.
- Monitoring stock losses, wastage and discrepancies and implementing appropriate stock-control procedures.
- Ensuring store policies and operational procedures are consistently followed by employees.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, safe and professional retail environment.
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and other applicable store procedures.
- Working closely with business owners/senior management regarding store performance, staffing, purchasing and operational improvements.
About You
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in retail management or a similar supervisory/management position.
- Demonstrated experience supervising and supporting retail staff.
- Good understanding of retail operations, stock control and inventory management.
- Experience with ordering, merchandising and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
- Strong customer service and complaint-resolution skills.
- Ability to monitor sales performance and work towards store targets.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate and develop a retail team.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for the overall operation of the store.
- Good attention to detail and a practical, hands-on approach to store management.
