About the role
In this role you will play an important role in protecting public health, community wellbeing and the amenity of our local area. You will support the delivery of regulatory, compliance and investigative services while working directly with the community to promote positive outcomes. With a strong customer focus, you will help Council achieve compliance with local laws through education, collaboration and engagement. Build relationships, providing clear information and empowering the community to understand its responsibilities and take ownership of compliance, is key to this role.

Classification: Band 4 $76,010 pa plus super
Key responsibilities include:
- Carry out activities in investigation & enforcement with respect to abandoned vehicles, overhanding foliage, building sites, footpath trading and outdoor dining.
- Follow up non-compliance with enforcement action including preparation of legal directive Notices and the issuance of infringements.
- Provide support, resources and education to the community to increase compliance in Health & Amenity protection.
- Proactively assist customers with enquiries and seek support from the Team Leader when required.
About you
The ideal candidate for this role will be a motivated and adaptable professional who enjoys working with people and making a positive difference in the community. With a strong customer service background, you will be confident engaging with a diverse range of people and building positive relationships, have a background in customer service and be comfortable liaising with a diverse range of people. You will bring resilience, initiative and sound judgement, with the ability to manage competing priorities and remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Experience:
- Completed or willingness to undertake a Certificate 4 Government – Statutory Compliance and/or Certificate 4 in Government Investigations or other tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal communication skills and experience.
- Ability to establish positive and proactive communications with the public and educate, promote and assist with the need for compliance with legislation and local laws.
- Ability to maintain thorough notes of activities undertaken, including maintaining appropriate administrative and information recording systems.
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
- Working with Children’s Check and Victorian Drivers Licence.
Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a Pre Employment Medical Assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
