## Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Draftsperson to join our team and play a key role in the preparation of technical drawings, plans, and diagrams that support the delivery of electrical engineering projects. Working closely with Electrical Engineers and Engineering Technologists, you will contribute to the design and documentation of electrical installations across a range of complex systems. The ideal candidate brings strong technical drafting capability, a solid understanding of electrical principles, and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality documentation in a fast-paced project environment.
## Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed technical drawings, plans, and diagrams of electrical installations, circuitry, and associated systems using CAD software
- Assist Electrical Engineers and Engineering Technologists in the design and layout of electrical installations across substations, switchgear, cabling systems, and motor control systems
- Develop and maintain single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and equipment arrangement plans in accordance with project specifications and Australian standards
- Interpret engineering specifications, technical data, and design briefs to produce accurate and compliant drafting outputs
- Review and update existing drawings to reflect design changes, site modifications, or as-built conditions, ensuring revision control is maintained throughout
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams including civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines to coordinate drawing outputs and resolve design clashes
- Check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements prior to issue
- Support the preparation of design documentation packages, including material schedules, equipment lists, and cable schedules
- Maintain organised drawing registers and document management systems in line with project and company procedures
- Liaise with project engineers, site personnel, and clients as required to gather technical information and incorporate feedback into design documentation
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of drafting standards, templates, and workflows within the team
## Required Qualifications & Skills
- Certificate III or IV in Engineering Drafting (Electrical), or a related qualification in an engineering discipline
- Demonstrated experience as an Electrical Draftsperson, ideally within the utilities, infrastructure, mining, or industrial sectors
- Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software, particularly AutoCAD Electrical; experience with MicroStation or similar platforms will be well regarded
- Sound knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including low voltage (LV), medium voltage (MV), and high voltage (HV) systems
- Familiarity with relevant Australian standards and codes applicable to electrical installations and documentation
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, well-structured drawings and technical documents
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain drawing quality across multiple projects simultaneously
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with engineers, project managers, and clients
- A proactive and collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams
## Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma of Engineering (Electrical) or higher qualification in a related engineering field
- Experience with 3D modelling platforms such as Revit MEP or EPLAN
- Exposure to SCADA, protection and control, or power systems drafting environments
- Familiarity with document management systems such as Aconex or ProjectWise
- Knowledge of AS/NZS wiring rules and relevant Australian electrical standards
- Previous experience working on large-scale infrastructure, resources, or energy sector projects
## Why Join Us?
- Be part of a collaborative and supportive engineering team working on meaningful, large-scale projects across Australia
- Access ongoing professional development opportunities, including training, mentorship, and pathways toward further qualifications
- Enjoy a flexible working environment with a strong focus on work-life balance and employee wellbeing
