The Leading Hand in the Civil Maintenance unit plays a crucial role in supporting the Maintenance Foreman in delivering both planned and reactive maintenance works on civil assets. This position is responsible for ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with Council policies and legislative requirements.
- Oversee a specialist team and align operations with Council’s strategic goals.
- Encourage continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery.
- Foster strong relationships with community stakeholders, contractors, and government agencies.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
- Manage team performance and support the professional development of team members.
- Effectively manage resources to promote sustainability and safety in all operations.
- Lead initiatives that ensure child safety compliance within the team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil maintenance and leadership, demonstrating the ability to guide a team effectively while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. You will possess excellent communication skills, a customer-centric approach, and the ability to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Certificate II in Civil Construction or equivalent.
- Current Class C Driver Licence and NSW General Construction Induction (White Card).
- Traffic Control Ticket / Licence.
- Experience in leading civil maintenance teams and managing workloads.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with the public and provide exceptional customer service.
- Experience with mobile technology and work management applications.

- Hours of work: Permanent Full Time. 38 hours per week - 9 day fortnight.
