In this role, you'll:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and automated ETL/ELT processes to support analytics and business intelligence needs.
Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance by implementing best practices in governance and adhering to TfNSW standards.
Optimize data workflows and infrastructure for efficiency, scalability, and performance through automation and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with business intelligence teams and stakeholders to translate data requirements into robust technical solutions.
Develop and maintain data models and schemas that enable efficient storage, retrieval, and integration across multiple platforms.
Align solutions with TfNSW’s data strategy, architecture, and security standards in partnership with architecture teams.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance data pipelines to ensure reliability and timely delivery of business-critical data.
Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in data engineering, cloud computing, and big data to drive innovation.

About you
- Proven experience designing and managing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data engineering solutions
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data transformation, automation, and integrations
- Hands-on expertise with Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks (including Spark and Delta Lake)
- Solid experience with Azure SQL, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning
- Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and analytics-focused schema design
- Experience with cloud data ecosystems (primarily Azure) and exposure to tools like Spark, Kafka, or Airflow
- Ability to design and implement end-to-end automated workflows using Power Automate, Logic Apps, and related tools
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance practices
- Ability to architect scalable, secure, and maintainable data solutions across platforms
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions within Azure platform and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
