Job description:
We are currently recruiting a male Disability Support Worker to provide support to an NDIS participant in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs.
In this role, you will provide in home and community-based support to participants, assisting them to achieve their individual goals, build independence, and enhance their overall quality of life.
You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of participants with varying support needs, including complex care requirements. Supports may include assistance with daily living skills, social and community participation, personal care, and domestic assistance.
Experience supporting individuals on the Autism Spectrum (ASD) is highly regarded, particularly participants with higher support needs. While not essential, applicants with knowledge or experience supporting people with autism including communication support, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and structured routines are strongly encouraged to apply.

Mandatory:

Key Duties:
May vary depending on the individual participant and their support requirements, goals, and preferences:
- Supporting participants to work towards their NDIS goals while maintaining dignity, choice, and respect.
- Implementing behaviour support strategies, and care plans as required.
- Building meaningful relationships with participants and encouraging social engagement and community connection.
- Assisting with daily living skills such as cooking, budgeting, routine development, and social skill building.
- Supporting participants to access and engage in community activities, appointments, and outings.Monitoring participant wellbeing and responding appropriately to individual support needs.
- Completing accurate documentation, including case notes and incident reporting.Assisting with household tasks including cleaning, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Providing personal care and high-care supports, including medication administration, personal hygiene, and assistance with daily presentation for chosen activities.
Essential for the role:
- Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience providing one-on-one support to people living with disability, including individuals with complex support needs.
- Experience supporting participants who may display behaviours of concern, with the ability to respond using person-centred and trauma-informed approaches.
- A valid Australian driver's license.
- A reliable vehicle with car insurance.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening, or willingness to obtain one.
- A valid First-Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC), or willingness to obtain one.
- Current Police Check, or willingness to obtain one.

- Flexible availability to work a range of shifts during the week including mornings, afternoons, overnight, and weekends.
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, listening and use and understanding of body language.
- Problem-solving abilities and a creative, innovative mindset.
