Summary:
The Finance Team Leader is responsible for leading Mercy Connect's finance operations, ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant, and timely financial management, reporting, and business intelligence services. Working closely with the Finance Manager and Chief Financial Officer, the role oversees the effective operation of the Finance Team, supports strategic decision-making through high-quality financial analysis, and drives continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting capabilities. The Finance Team Leader plays a key leadership role in fostering a collaborative, customer-focused, and data-driven culture that supports organisational performance and growth
Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and support the Finance Team to deliver high-quality financial services and achieve organisational objectives.
- Oversee financial management activities including budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, financial reporting, cash flow monitoring, and financial controls.
- Prepare and analyse financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Coordinate and continuously improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting frameworks to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Support the delivery of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other finance functions in line with organisational requirements.
- Partner with leaders across the organisation to improve financial understanding and support business planning and performance monitoring.
- Contribute to the development of financial and non-financial business intelligence reporting capabilities and promote a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, legislative requirements, internal controls, and organisational policies.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, auditors, funding bodies, and external service providers.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement that enhance financial performance, service quality, and organisational effectiveness
Qualifications and Experience:

Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CA or CPA qualification (highly desirable).
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, reporting, and financial controls.
- Proven experience leading and developing finance teams, including managing performance, allocating workloads, and coaching staff.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and their practical application.
- Experience using accounting and financial management systems, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Well-developed analytical, business intelligence, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of an organisation.
- Experience in the disability, community services, health, not-for-profit, or related sectors is highly regarded.
- Understanding of NDIS funding, billing, and compliance requirements is highly desirable.
- Current driver's licence and ability to satisfy relevant probity requirements
