The Opportunity
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Cost Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate, actionable financial insights that improve product profitability, optimise production mix, and support strategic decision-making across the pig processing value chain. This role partners closely with Operations, Production Planning, Procurement, Sales, and NPD to ensure that costing, margin performance, and scenario modelling effectively drive both operational efficiency and commercial growth.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain standard costs for carcass, primal, and value-added products while analysing yield, labour performance, and actual versus standard variances.

Build costings for new products and partner with NPD and Sales to assess commercial viability and contribution margins.

Produce SKU-level profitability reporting and identify underperforming products with recommendations for pricing or process improvements.

Monitor daily and weekly margin performance and provide insights into drivers of margin erosion.

Model optimal carcass utilisation and recommend mix strategies that improve throughput and profitability
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Accounting Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CA/CPA preferred.

Manufacturing Experience in meat processing, FMCG, or similar environments.

Strong understanding of yield-based costing, overhead allocation, and manufacturing processes.

Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

Strong analytical mindset with a continuous improvement focus.

Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

CA/CPA qualification (or working towards) is highly regarded.
