About the Role
As Risk and Insurance Advisor, you will:
- Manage and oversee Council’s Strategic and Operational risk registers in consultation with the Manager Governance and Property, Executive Team and Risk Management Committee, providing specialist advise and direction to risk owners.
- Manage insurance claims and liaise with insurers and legal advisors, to make determinations on complex and legal claims.
- Direct and manage the operation of the Internal Audit Program, ensuring organisational compliance and buy-in.
- Overseeing Council’s Business Continuity Program, providing clear policy direction.
- Attend and present at Audit and Risk Committee meetings and other forums as required.
- Work across teams to foster a strong risk culture and provide practical risk and insurance advice.
About the Successful Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Builds strong relationships across the organisation and with external partners.
- Can gain the cooperation of and utilise the necessary influence to deliver outcomes with a variety of stakeholders.
- Possesses high-level analytical and investigative skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly to formulate policy options and provide expert advice.
- Has strong technology skills and an understanding of the political environment and context in which Local Government operates.
- Brings knowledge of the risks impacting Local Government and experience with insurance claims, including those of a litigated nature.
- Shows curiosity, enthusiasm, and the confidence to work autonomously and proactively to solve complex organisational problems.
