Business System Analyst
Help shape the digital systems that preserve the history of New South Wales. As a Business System Analyst at Museums of History NSW, you'll drive the performance and continuous improvement of critical business applications, partnering with stakeholders, ICT team and vendors to deliver secure, innovative and user-focused solutions. Your work will directly support the systems that underpin our archives, records management and organisational success.

What we do
Museums of History NSW brings together a portfolio of iconic museums, rich collections and heritage sites, the nation’s oldest archive collection, vital recordkeeping services and expert staff.
We bring history to life by sharing the stories of our places and collections. Through the State Archives Collection, we manage NSW’s official documentary heritage, supporting government transparency and the public’s right to access information.
These two roles do not just sit side by side – they inform and enrich each other. By preserving and making accessible our places, collections and archives, we create opportunities for people to explore the past and better understand their own place in the world. Museums of History NSW is a state cultural institution, established under the Museums of History NSW Act 2022. It is an agency of the NSW Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS).
What you'll do with us:
The Business Systems Analyst provides specialist functional support, configuration, analysis and lifecycle management for MHNSW’s core business applications. The role ensures system stability, data integrity, user experience and alignment with organisational needs.
The role may act as a lead for one or more enterprise applications, including the Government Records Repository (GRR), the State Archives Management System (SAMS), or as well as others, and works closely with business units, vendors and ICT domains to deliver fit for purpose solutions, support upgrades, and ensure compliance with cyber security, privacy and records management requirements.
As a Corporate Services function, the ICT Team is an enabling partner that supports every area of MHNSW. It provides secure, reliable and fit-for-purpose business systems, data governance, digital platforms and workplace technologies that underpin day-to-day operations and enable MHNSW to achieve its strategic goals and long-term sustainability.

1.Describe a time when you were responsible for supporting or configuring a core business application.
In your response, outline: the system and your role, the issue or requirement you were addressing, the steps you took (including configuration, testing or vendor engagement), and the outcome, including how you ensured data integrity, user experience, and system stability.
2.Tell us about a time when you managed a system upgrade, release or significant change. How did you approach testing, stakeholder communication and risk management to ensure a successful implementation?
Essential requirements of the role:

Demonstrated experience supporting and configuring business applications in a complex environment.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into system changes.

Experience working with vendors, coordinating testing and supporting application upgrades.

Understanding of cyber security, privacy, data governance and records management requirements.

Willingness to work across and travel to multiple MHNSW locations.

Well-developed written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to produce clear technical documentation, explain technical issues to non-technical staff; ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external parties.
