We are seeking a reliable and motivated Trades Assistant to join our Asset Maintenance Team on a fixed-term contract for 12 months. In this role you'll play a key support function by assisting our skilled tradespeople across a variety of areas, including mechanical, infrastructure, panel, and cleaning functions. Your contributions will help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance of the bus fleet and depot facilities.

What you’ll do
- Support routine and non routine asset, fleet, depot, and infrastructure maintenance activities
- Prepare vehicles, components, tools, and work areas for maintenance and inspection tasks
- Assist our skilled tradespeople with inspections, component handling, installation, and removal under supervision
- Identify, report, and escalate defects, damage, and safety concerns
- Maintain fleet presentation through internal, external, engine bay, and under body cleaning
- Assist with depot, workshop, and building maintenance, including cleaning and basic repairs
- Support breakdown response activities and service changeovers to maintain operational continuity
- Collect, deliver, and manage parts, materials, and equipment as required
- Transport fleet vehicles to and from suppliers and external contractors
- Assist with fleet movements to support asset availability
- Provide flexible, team based support across the Asset Maintenance function to meet operational needs
What you bring
- Previous experience in a workshop, transport, or industrial environment
- Medium Rigid licence or above
- Forklift licence or the ability to obtain it
- A positive, reliable, and safety focused approach
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision
- Willingness to support a wide range of tasks in a workshop and depot environment
- Good communication skills and a team focused attitude
