About the Role
Support Nest is currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Disability Support Worker to support a participant based in Pascoe Vale, VIC.
This role involves providing high-quality personal care, mobility support, assistance with daily living activities, and supporting community participation. The successful candidate will play an important role in enhancing the participant's independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.
Participant with Greek language skills are highly desirable, as this may assist with communication and enhance the participant's overall support experience. However, Greek language skills are preferred but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and continence support.
- Assist with meal preparation, medication support, and daily living activities.
- Support safe transfers and mobility using hoists, Sara Stedy, wheelchairs, and other assistive equipment.
- Assist with household duties, including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Support community access, social participation, shopping, and attendance at appointments.
- Promote participant choice, dignity, independence, and inclusion.
- Follow Behaviour Support Plans and individual care plans where applicable.
- Maintain accurate progress notes, case notes, and incident reports.
- Report any concerns regarding participant health, safety, or wellbeing in a timely manner.
- Adhere to NDIS Practice Standards, Support Nest policies, and best practice support principles.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be:
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to person-centred care.
- Experienced in providing disability support and personal care.
- Confident using manual handling equipment, including hoists and Sara Stedy.
- Able to work independently and as part of a professional team.
- Reliable, professional, and accountable.
- A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal English skills.
- Greek speaking (highly desirable but not essential).
Essential Requirements
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, Community Services, or a related qualification.
- Experience providing personal care and disability support.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Current National Police Check.
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence.
- Access to a reliable and insured vehicle.
- Current COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.
- Full Australian working rights.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting participants with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
- Experience supporting people with dementia, neurological conditions, or complex care needs.
- Knowledge of NDIS Quality and Safeguards requirements.
- Understanding of person-centred and trauma-informed practice.
- Experience using mobility and transfer equipment.
