Northern Interests is a national organisation operating multiple remote roadhouses across South Australia and the Northern Territory. With around 130 team members, many living on-site in our staff accommodation, we provide essential services to travellers and locals alike, including fuel, hotel accommodation, camping and caravan facilities, a restaurant, bar, and café.
We’re looking for two experienced and motivated Gardeners to join our teams at Spuds Roadhouse and Marla Travellers Rest to help keep our outdoor spaces safe, attractive, and well cared for at our SA sites.
About the Role
Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the site’s grounds. Your duties will include:
- Planting and pruning trees, shrubs, and flowers
- Mowing, edging, and maintaining lawns
- Clearing leaves, dirt, and debris from roofs, gutters, paths, forecourt and entryways
- Watering and irrigating lawns, trees, and garden beds
- Applying and handling herbicides and fertilizers safely (unrestricted chemical use)
- Operating machinery such as ride-on mowers, edgers, hand tools, and large vehicles
- Transporting materials and debris using a utility vehicle and trailer
- Performing minor maintenance and repairs
- Cleaning and testing the swimming pool to ensure compliance with safety standards
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ gardening/maintenance experience or a relevant qualification
- Knowledge of fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides used in grounds maintenance
- Proficiency in operating grounds maintenance and construction equipment
- Physically capable of working in hot, dusty conditions and lifting heavy objects
