About the Opportunity
We are seeking a technically minded Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of equipment and tooling projects within a complex engineering and operational environment. Working closely with technical and operational stakeholders, you will coordinate project activities, drive project outcomes, and support the delivery of critical equipment and tooling solutions from planning through to implementation.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a trade, manufacturing, defence or heavy industry background who enjoys solving practical problems, improving processes and working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic project environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning, coordination and delivery of projects within agreed scope, schedule and budget requirements.
- Work closely with technical and operational stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Coordinate project activities across engineering, production, procurement and support teams.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and issue, and contribute to practical solutions to maintain delivery outcomes.
- Support the development and implementation of project processes, controls and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with project scheduling, resource planning and tracking of key milestones and deliverables.
- Prepare project documentation, reports and stakeholder updates to support effective project governance.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Contribute technical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills to support equipment, tooling and operational projects.
- Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with safety, quality and compliance requirements.
About You
You are a practical and solutions-focused professional with a strong technical background and a passion for delivering outcomes. Comfortable navigating ambiguity, you thrive in dynamic environments where no two days are the same and enjoy rolling up your sleeves to solve problems, improve processes and support project delivery.
You build strong relationships with technical stakeholders, communicate confidently across all levels, and bring a flexible, adaptable mindset. Experience within defence, manufacturing, heavy industry, construction, fabrication, tooling or oil & gas is highly regarded, with a trade qualification viewed favourably.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
