Swimart Cairns is a leading swimming pool and spa retail business providing professional advice, premium pool equipment, chemical and water testing services to residential and commercial customers throughout the Cairns region.
We are seeking in experienced and enthusiastic Retail Supervisor to oversee the day to day operations of our retail store, supervise staff and ensure outstanding customer service while supporting continued business growth.
The successful applicant will receive an annual salary of $70,000 - $80,000 plus 12% superannuation.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the day-to-day customer service experience, ensuring customers receive accurate advice on pool chemicals, equipment, water testing results and suitable product solutions.
· Support retail staff in achieving sales targets through upselling and cross-selling of pool chemicals, pumps, filters, chlorinators, cleaners and related products.
· Resolve customer enquiries, complaints and product issues professionally and efficiently.
· Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of retail staff, allocating duties across the shop floor, water testing station and point-of-sale.
· Train and mentor new and existing employees in product knowledge, customer service standards, safe handling of pool chemicals and store procedures.
· Monitor staff performance and provide coaching to maintain high levels of customer service and operational consistency.
· Oversee store opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, point-of-sale reconciliation, banking and security checks.
· Ensure the store is clean, well presented and merchandised in accordance with company standards, including maintaining accurate pricing, signage and promotional displays.
· Monitor stock levels of pool chemicals, spare parts, equipment and retail accessories, coordinate deliveries, stock rotation and storage, and assist with stocktakes and inventory control.
· Identify stock discrepancies, monitor stock requirements and report inventory needs to management.
· Oversee the pool water testing station, ensuring accurate testing procedures and appropriate chemical recommendations are provided to customers.
· Provide guidance to staff and customers on pool equipment troubleshooting and product suitability, and assist in preparing quotations for pumps, filters, chlorinators and equipment installations.
· Complete daily sales reporting, banking and point-of-sale reconciliation, maintain staff rosters, timesheets and training records, and report operational issues, customer trends and stock requirements to management.
· Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including the safe handling and storage of hazardous pool chemicals, spill management procedures and maintaining a safe retail environment for employees and customers.
Essential Requirements
· Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Retail Supervisor, Retail Team Leader or similar retail leadership role.
· Demonstrated ability to supervise, train and motivate a retail team in a customer-focused environment.
· Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
· Proven ability to organise daily operations, allocate staff duties and maintain high service standards.
· Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash handling, stock control and inventory management.
· Sound organisational, problem-solving and time management skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced retail environment.
· Commitment to maintaining workplace health and safety standards.
Desirable
· Knowledge of pool water chemistry, pool equipment and water testing procedures.
· Experience preparing quotations for retail products or equipment.
· Experience using retail inventory management and reporting systems.
· Current Pool and Spa Water Testing accreditation or willingness to obtain relevant industry training.
