The Opportunity
We're looking for a commercially minded and people-focused Performance Manager – Energy to lead financial performance reporting and management accounting for our Energy business.
Leading a team of two, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the accurate accounting of the Energy P&L and Balance Sheet, including derivatives, while delivering meaningful insights that drive business performance.
Reporting into Finance leadership, you'll be responsible for the financial and management accounting of the Energy business, providing performance reporting, analysis and commercial insights across the organisation.
This is a highly visible role that partners closely with operational and executive stakeholders, including the GM Finance, GM Energy Product and Chief Executive – Retail, to support strategic decision-making and business growth.
What You'll Be Doing
Financial Performance & Reporting
- Own the accurate accounting of the Energy business P&L and Balance Sheet, including derivative accounting.
- Lead the Energy month-end process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Review monthly results, investigate variances and provide insightful commentary on business performance.
- Deliver detailed performance reporting, including:
- Trend analysis
- Actual versus budget and forecast analysis
- State-level performance drivers and insights
- Prepare monthly Energy business review packs and executive reporting materials.
- Perform Energy cashflow and working capital analysis to support business decision-making.
- Complete audit requirements and regulatory reporting requirements for the energy business.
Business Partnering & Commercial Support
- Build trusted relationships with key senior stakeholders across the Energy business.
- Working with key external stakeholders to provide oversight and input into hedging strategy and performanc of the business unit.
- Provide commercial and financial insights to support strategic initiatives and operational performance.
- Support budgeting and forecasting cycles through collaboration with the FP&A team.
- Act as a key advisor on financial performance, risks and opportunities.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Lead, coach and develop a team of two finance professionals.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, controls and reporting capability.
- Partner with operational and billing teams to identify and implement process improvements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
What You'll Bring
You're a technically strong finance leader who combines analytical capability with commercial acumen and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. You enjoy improving processes, mentoring people and turning complex financial data into meaningful business insights.
- Chartered Accounting experience gained within a Big 4 or Mid-Tier accounting firm.
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Strong financial and management accounting expertise, including month-end reporting and balance sheet management.
- Proven experience delivering performance reporting, financial analysis and business insights.
- Telecommunications and/or Energy industry experience.
- Experience working with complex commercial businesses and multiple stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
- Strong leadership experience, including coaching and developing team members.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- High levels of drive, initiative and accountability.
