The Role
Reporting to the Parks Officer – Land Management and based in Mulgrave NSW, the primary purpose of this role is to supervise nursery staff and volunteers, collect seeds and maintain seed database, while carrying out general nursery duties.
About You
You have Tertiary qualifications in Nursery Management or Conservation and Land Management, with experience as a supervisor with a background leading both staff and volunteers. You will have demonstrated experience in propagation, seed bank management and general nursery operations. along with knowledge of relevant environmental Legislations and Acts. you will be a champion for safety, ensuring the team are consistently operating under WHS safe work practices.
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Nursery Management or Conservation and Land Management and equivalent industry experience
- Sound Knowledge of native vegetation in the Sydney region
- Demonstrated experience in propagation and seed bank management to flora bank guidelines
- Experience in dealing with financial management/grant funding
- Demonstrated knowledge of Pesticide Act and other relevant environmental legislation ie Wildlife Act
- Sound knowledge of plant and implements use, maintenance and safety
- Demonstrated experience in general nursery operations
- Demonstrated experience with small plant use and maintenance and nursery irrigation systems
- Demonstrated experience in the supervision of staff and volunteers
- Knowledge of Nursery Growers Industry Association Australia guidelines
- Experience in pest and disease management
- Experience in the use of computers including Microsoft office and other basic office equipment
- Chemical Application Certificate
- First Aid Certification
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Class C Drivers Licence
- WHS General Construction Work in NSW
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo background (police) checks and medical declaration
Desirable Criteria
- Training and assessment certificate
- Landscape Certificate
- Conservation and Land Management certificate
- Knowledge of database systems, spreadsheet and inventory management
- Class MR Drivers Licence
