The Student Support Coordinator (SSC) works collaboratively with students, families, teachers, support staff, external agencies and school leaders to promote inclusive education practices aligned with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) and the Disability Standards for Education 2005 (DSE).
The SSC provides specialist advice and support to staff to ensure a clear understanding of their obligations and responsibilities in meeting the learning and support needs of students with disability and diverse learning needs. The role focuses on building the capability of teachers through consultation, coaching and collaborative planning to ensure students can access and participate in learning on the same basis as their peers.
The SSC develops and maintains strong relationships with parents, students, teaching and support staff, specialists and the wider school community to coordinate appropriate adjustments, monitor student progress and support positive educational outcomes. The successful applicant will play a key role in fostering an inclusive school culture where every student is supported to achieve their potential.
In addition to the Student Support Coordinator responsibilities, the successful applicant will undertake a 0.5FTE teaching load. This teaching allocation will provide opportunities to maintain strong connections with students and classroom practice while contributing to the broader inclusive education agenda across the school.
