About the Role
An opportunity exists for a Business Compliance and Assurance Officer to join our Business Support, Sustainability and Compliance team. Reporting to the Business Support, Sustainability and Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting internal and external audits, compliance programs, risk management activities, environmental reporting, and sustainability initiatives across the organisation. This position will also contribute to the ongoing implementation and assurance of governance frameworks, quality management systems, and regulatory obligations.
Key duties and Responsibilities
Audit and Assurance
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including J-SOX compliance activities.
- Assist in reviewing and maintaining internal controls, processes, and procedures.
- Gather and provide audit evidence to internal and external auditors.
- Support departments in preparing for and responding to audit requirements.
ERP and Financial Controls
- Assist in mapping and documenting J-SOX controls within Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Support testing and validation of controls associated with ERP implementation.
- Monitor and report on control effectiveness and compliance requirements.
Quality and ISO Management Systems
- Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality, environmental, and safety management systems.
- Contribute to the implementation of additional ISO standards as required.
Risk Management
- Maintain and update organisational risk registers.
- Monitor risk mitigation actions and follow up on corrective actions.
- Assist with non-conformance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support business continuity and incident management activities.
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)
- Coordinate environmental data collection and sustainability reporting.
- Assist with environmental management systems and compliance obligations.
- Support implementation of ESG initiatives, strategies, and action plans.
- Identify emerging governance risks and assist stakeholders in addressing them.
- Promote ESG awareness through communication and stakeholder engagement.
Facilities Compliance
- Assist with building compliance requirements, including safety, fire, environmental and regulatory obligations.
- Support facility audits and coordinate corrective actions.
- Ensure maintenance activities are documented and conducted in accordance with relevant standards.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Commerce, Risk Management, Compliance, Sustainability, Auditing, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of auditing principles, controls, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting internal and external audit programs.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with risk management processes and compliance reporting.
Desirable
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Experience with ESG reporting and environmental management systems.
- Exposure to J-SOX compliance requirements.
- Experience working with ERP systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365.
