Reporting to the General Manager, Merchandise & Planning, the Senior Buyer leads the strategic development, sourcing, and management of multiple product categories across a large portfolio. This is a senior, influential role focused on driving profitable growth through innovative buying strategies, strong commercial outcomes, and customer‑centric decision‑making.
Key accountabilities
Strategic sourcing & category management

Develop and deliver category strategies aligned to business objectives, margin targets, and customer value

Analyse market trends and supplier landscapes to drive innovation, savings, and risk mitigation, leading tenders and negotiations
Supplier management & negotiation
-
Build strong, collaborative partnerships with key suppliers to deliver quality and commercial outcomes
-
Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and long‑term agreements while managing performance through KPIs and reviews
Range assortment & customer‑centric decision making

Develop and optimise customer‑led assortments using insights, data, and brand strategy
-
Use store and channel performance to guide range decisions and partner cross‑functionally to deliver omnichannel ranges
Inventory, demand & cost management

Partner with planning to optimise inventory levels, lead times, and availability

Identify cost‑reduction opportunities and manage total cost of ownership across the product lifecycle
Cross‑functional collaboration

Collaborate closely with marketing, digital, supply chain, quality, finance, and store teams

Provide insights to senior leadership and support product innovation and new supplier sourcing
Risk, compliance & governance

Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements

Identify and manage supplier and supply chain risks while maintaining accurate documentation and data integrity
Leadership & continuous improvement

Mentor and develop a buyer and buying assistant, promoting best‑practice buying

Champion process improvement, data‑driven decision‑making, and strategic capability‑building initiatives

You’re a commercially astute buying professional who thrives in a fast‑paced retail environment and keeps the customer front of mind at all times.
You’ll bring:

Experience in category management, buying, or commercial brand roles with strong negotiation and supplier management capability

Commercially astute and data‑driven, with solid experience across forecasting, margin management, and performance analysis

Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate effectively across cross‑functional teams

Customer‑obsessed, with a strong understanding of the needs of new and expecting parents

Strategic thinker with strong execution capability and financial literacy
