About the Role: Are you an experienced hospital pharmacist with an interest in aseptic compounding, manufacturing excellence, and medication safety? Canberra Health Services (CHS) is seeking a skilled and motivated pharmacist to join our Aseptic and Production Services team at The Canberra Hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a progressive, high-performing pharmacy department that supports the safe, efficient, and compliant manufacture of medicines. You will play a vital role in delivering critical services—including cytotoxic compounding, parenteral nutrition, clinical trials manufacturing, and sterile and non-sterile production—while contributing to innovation, governance, and continuous improvement.
Whether you are looking to deepen your expertise in aseptic services or broaden your operational and leadership capabilities, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on patient care behind the scenes.
Why Join Us?
Expanded Cutting-edge Facilities: The ACT Government has expanded the Canberra Hospital to deliver more emergency, surgical and critical care capacity for the ACT and surrounding region. As part of this growth, pharmacy services are continuously evolving to support increased demand for complex medicines manufacturing and supply.
Work within a service that delivers a comprehensive range of production activities, including cytotoxic and non-cytotoxic aseptic compounding, parenteral nutrition, clinical trials, and prepacking. Be part of a team committed to strong governance frameworks, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance, and high-quality production standards.
Join a department that leads the way in workforce development and service innovation, including credentialed roles, digital health integration, and emerging scope of practice models. Collaborate closely with clinical teams including oncology, ICU, and nutrition support to ensure safe and timely access to compounded medicines.
CHS supports a strong education and training culture, including residency and registrar training programs, helping you build advanced practice capability and leadership skills.
What You’ll Gain
-
Opportunities to lead, innovate, and contribute to the future of aseptic and production pharmacy services
-
Experience in a highly specialised area including cytotoxic compounding, parenteral nutrition, and clinical trials manufacturing
-
A strong governance and quality-focused environment with involvement in audits, accreditation, and continuous improvement activities
-
Development of leadership skills through supervision of technicians and junior pharmacists, and coordination of production workflow
-
A collaborative team culture that values safety, efficiency, and excellence
-
Genuine job satisfaction through ensuring safe, timely access to high-risk and complex medicines
