What you will do
As senior policy officer, you will lead key coordination activities that support advice for ministers and departmental executives.
You will help deliver major briefing projects and improve the way information is gathered across the department.
You will:
-
lead department-wide coordination activities for ministerial and executive briefings
-
provide expert advice to support high-quality briefings and project outcomes
-
identify and manage project risks while improving systems and processes
-
support strategic planning and help develop new coordination approaches
-
build trusted relationships and provide advice on complex policy issues.
About you
You do not need a mandatory qualification for this role. You should bring experience in policy, government coordination or a related field.
You should also have:
-
strong analytical skills and the ability to provide clear advice
-
sound knowledge of government, Cabinet and parliamentary processes
-
the ability to manage complex projects and changing priorities
-
strong communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- The salary range for this position is set out in the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2024. Please refer to the Department of Treasury and Finance website for further information.
- Department policy stipulates that salary upon commencement is paid at the base of the salary range for the relevant grade. Any above base requests require sign off by an executive delegate and will be by exception only or where required to match the current salary of Victorian Public Service staff transferring at-level.
- If you have previously left the VPS on a departure/separation package, employment restrictions may apply.
- You may be required to mobilise to other areas to support priority projects or programs.
