As Manager, Line 1 Risk Assurance, you'll play a pivotal role in strengthening BOQ Group's risk management practices through the delivery of independent reviews and assessments across the Group. Sitting within Line 1 Risk, this role will see you working closely with Business Unit stakeholders, Group Risk and Internal Audit to assess control effectiveness, identify emerging risks and recommend practical improvements that support stronger, more consistent risk outcomes.
This is a highly visible role where you'll lead end-to-end assurance activity across key business processes, controls and risk obligations. You'll provide pragmatic risk advice, support the identification of root causes and control gaps, and help ensure risk management practices are aligned to BOQ Group's published standards, guidelines, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
A key part of the role will be contributing to the future of assurance at BOQ Group through the development of automated assurance strategies and identifying opportunities to improve how assurance activity is delivered. You'll also support important risk governance activities, including key risk indicator and risk tolerance reporting, divisional risk forums and sub-committees, and remediation activity through BOQ Group's broader risk programs.
What makes this role particularly exciting is the opportunity to influence change at an enterprise level. You'll work across a range of business areas, partner with stakeholders across the three lines of defence and play an important role in promoting a proactive risk culture. It's a role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, analysing trends, identifying opportunities for improvement and delivering outcomes that make a genuine difference to customers, colleagues and the organisation.
You're an experienced risk, assurance, controls or audit professional who understands how strong risk management practices help organisations operate safely, effectively and in line with regulatory expectations. You bring a practical, commercially minded approach and enjoy working in complex environments where you can provide clear advice, ask the right questions and help teams strengthen their control environments.
You have experience designing and delivering independent reviews and assessments, with the ability to review critical processes, identify control gaps or weaknesses, determine root causes and recommend meaningful actions. You're confident analysing information, identifying trends, diagnosing issues and turning complex risk insights into clear, actionable recommendations for a range of stakeholders.
Just as importantly, you're someone who builds trusted relationships. You know how to provide independent challenge while maintaining strong partnerships across the business, Group Risk and Internal Audit. You thrive when collaborating across teams, influencing outcomes and supporting initiatives that embed proactive risk management into everyday decision-making.
You'll bring strong knowledge of risk management principles and practices, along with an understanding of complex regulatory environments and non-financial risk management. Your communication, written, analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills will help you manage assurance activity effectively and contribute to broader governance, reporting and remediation priorities.
Experience within financial services or another highly regulated industry will be highly regarded, as will experience supporting the development or implementation of risk management frameworks. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Risk Management, Finance, Technology or a related discipline will be well regarded, along with professional certifications such as CISA, CRISC, CIA, CA, CPA or similar.
Most importantly, you'll share our commitment to creating a proactive risk culture and improving outcomes for our customers, colleagues and communities. You'll be curious, accountable and passionate about making a difference, while continuing to grow your own capability in an environment that values learning, challenge and contribution.
Bring your expertise. Strengthen risk. Help shape what's next with BOQ Group.
