About Great River City
Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in our country, with the population of Greater Parramatta alone set to climb by 50 per cent by 2041 and at Great River City Light Rail we want to create new communities, connect great places and help locals and visitors move around and explore what the region has to offer. The new Light Rail connects Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, spanning 12 kilometres and utilising state-of-the-art vehicles that delivers comfortable, user-friendly and high-performance services. By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of light rail stops.
The role
We are looking for exceptional customer service professionals to join our team of Authorised Officers with opportunities at both Sydney & Parramatta Light Rail. With full training provided this position will see you combine your exceptional customer service skills with the role of revenue protection. By performing this role you will be acting as a deterrent to fare evasion, where necessary this will include issuing cautionary notices or penalty fines.
Critical to our business is passenger safety and as part of this role you may be required to assist with crowd control during busy periods, disruptions to service or special events. Shifts range from a starting time of 5.30am at the depot and finishing time of 10.00pm, including working weekends and public holidays.
What you bring
The key requirement for this role is your passion for delivering excellent customer service. You will thrive on being out on the network every day and being able to improve our customer’s journey experience. You’ll handle complex situations, helping customers, and high-pressure moments, using empathy, judgement, and strong communication skills. Your background may include working in a front-line customer service environment or managing customer queries and complaints.
Given the nature of the role the ability to deliver clear advice / information and where necessary, diffuse difficult situations effectively, is essential. Equally important is the positive attitude you bring to work and your ability to work effectively in a team environment.
