About the Role
OdysseyCare is currently seeking an experienced female Disability Support Worker aged 30 years and over to support a participant located in Truganina, VIC.
This role focuses on community access, social participation, skill development, and building confidence within the community. We are seeking someone who is compassionate, reliable, mature, and committed to developing a positive and long-term working relationship with the participant.
This is an ongoing position for the right person, with shifts available Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm. Hours will vary from week to week depending on the participant's schedule and goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the participant to access the community safely and confidently
- Assisting with social outings, recreational activities, and appointments
- Encouraging independence and capacity building
- Providing emotional support and positive encouragement
- Transporting the participant to community activities and appointments as required
- Assisting the participant to achieve their NDIS goals
- Maintaining accurate shift notes and documentation
- Building a professional and positive relationship with the participant and their support network
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be a female support worker aged 30 years or older
- Have previous experience working as a Disability Support Worker
- Be patient, empathetic, reliable, and professional
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be confident working independently within the community
- Demonstrate initiative and a person-centred approach to support
- Be committed to providing consistent, long-term support
Essential Requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Valid Victorian Driver's Licence
- Reliable and roadworthy vehicle
- Comprehensive Car Insurance
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
- Current COVID-19 Vaccination Evidence (if applicable)
Desirable
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, Mental Health, or related field
- Previous experience supporting participants with community access and social participation
- Strong understanding of person-centred practice and NDIS principles
