These positions are designed to provide comprehensive training in anaesthesia and perioperative medicine, supporting progression toward Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). The successful applicant will provide anaesthetic and perioperative care across a wide range of surgical and procedural settings under appropriate supervision.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervised delivery of safe anaesthesia, sedation, and perioperative care
- Participation in perioperative assessment and optimisation of patients
- Contribution to acute pain management services
- Developing skills in:
- Airway management and regional anaesthesia
- Trauma and resuscitation
- Crisis resource management
- Intensive care exposure (as part of training pathways)
Trainees will work within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to patient care both within and outside the operating theatre environment, including remote locations such as interventional radiology, MRI, cardiac cath lab and EP lab.
Rotations
Trainees will be expected to complete rotations across the Sydney Local Health District and affiliated departments and hospitals, which include:
- Concord Hospital
- Campbelltown Hospital
- Orange Base Hospital
- Port Macquarie Base Hospital
- The Children’s Hospital at Westmead
