Join our SALHN Operations Team!
The aim of the SOC is to provide a centralised location that enables the monitoring and evaluation of all existing operational functions of the SALHN IMT/SALHN Patient Flow Board Sub-Committee in order to provide a single point of contact for the timely and safe coordination of demand, capacity, access and flow.
About the role:
Reporting to the Nursing Director, this role is integral to providing operational leadership, governance, and direction (in and after hours across 7 days) for the SALHN Operations Centre.
Duties for the role will include:
- Build a culture which is patient/client centred and where patient/client engagement is encouraged.
- Developing and implementing strategies for effective patient flow.
- Initiate and/or oversee innovations, systemic change processes, and co-ordination of responses to nursing/midwifery practice and health service needs within their span of control.
- Within a culture of due diligence be responsible for financial budgeting and management within span of control and contribute to financial budgeting and management for the organisation.
- Hold a contemporary professional practice portfolio containing evidence of postgraduate qualifications and learning and practice experiences that underpin a demonstrable application of knowledge and skills commensurate with the level of autonomy, decision making authority and influence of recommendations expected of the role.
- Integrate contemporary information and research evidence with personal experience to support the decision making, innovative thinking and objective analysis that are expected at this level. e.g. Critically appraise and synthesise the outcomes of relevant research.
- Provides leadership and direction, acts as a role model, mentor, consultant and resource person.
About you:
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
- Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 5 years post registration experience.
- Experience in health operations including but not limited to patient flow & demand management
- Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
- Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure and prioritise workloads.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a service including resource management.
- Demonstrated flexibility, innovation and creativity which can be applied to the hospital setting, particularly in regard to the provision of nursing services.
- Demonstrated ability to participate/initiate and or facilitate high quality research.
