About the Role
The Team Leader, Math Skills leads the design and delivery of high-impact numeracy and academic learning support services that help students succeed throughout their university journey. Working across UOW's onshore campuses, you will drive inclusive, evidence-based programs that enhance student engagement, academic progress and retention, while leading a team of Math Skills Advisors and collaborating closely with academic and professional staff.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of inclusive numeracy and academic learning support programs.
- Partner with academic and professional staff to design curriculum-aligned initiatives that support student success, including at-risk cohorts.
- Manage and develop the Math Skills team, including workforce planning, resource development and coordination of casual staff.
- Drive student engagement initiatives in collaboration with Academic Skills Centre services and key stakeholders.
- Use data, evaluation and feedback to continuously improve learning support services and contribute to strategic student success initiatives.
About the Team
This role sits within the Dean of Students portfolio and reports to the Senior Manager, Student Academic Success. The team is dedicated to supporting student achievement through high-quality academic learning services, working collaboratively with the Academic Skills Centre, Library, academic faculties and student support teams. Together, they create accessible and engaging learning experiences that help students thrive at university.
What You'll Bring
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in numeracy and academic learning development within higher education.
- Demonstrated teaching or instructional experience supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong understanding of numeracy development and the learning skills required for success in university studies.
- Proven leadership experience, including team management, staff development and stakeholder collaboration.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and continuous improvement capabilities, supported by strong technology skills.
