As part of our continued investment in technology infrastructure and enterprise systems, the Harvey Norman Information Technology Team is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to join our team located in Silverwater, NSW. This role is a full-time permanent position working 38 hours per week.
About the role
As an experienced Linux Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, optimisation and support of enterprise Linux operating systems, servers and associated infrastructure across the Harvey Norman Group.
You will work closely with Operations, Applications and Service Delivery teams while ensuring the integrity, security, availability and performance of enterprise systems that support business-critical applications and services.
You will also:
- Plan, install, configure, maintain and support Linux operating systems and associated server infrastructure within large-scale enterprise environments.
- Administer, monitor and optimise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SUSE Linux operating system environments across physical and virtual platforms.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, availability and security to ensure optimum system integrity, reliability and operational performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex operating system, server and infrastructure issues, acting as a technical escalation point for incidents and service requests.
- Implement and maintain server patching, operating system upgrades, backup procedures and disaster recovery processes.
- Administer and support Linux automation, provisioning and configuration management tools including Red Hat Satellite and Ansible.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, standards and support processes.
- Evaluate, test and implement software releases, system upgrades and emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
- Provide technical recommendations relating to Linux infrastructure architecture, performance tuning, scalability and system enhancements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, technology vendors and project teams to deliver enterprise infrastructure projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
About you
With extensive experience supporting enterprise Linux environments, you will be a confident Systems Administrator with strong technical expertise in Linux operating systems, server administration, infrastructure support and system performance optimisation.
You will also have:
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Linux Systems Administrator within a large-scale enterprise environment.
- Extensive experience provisioning, configuring, managing, monitoring and optimising Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.
- Demonstrated experience supporting SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and SUSE Manager environments.
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification or equivalent enterprise Linux administration expertise.
- Experience administering Red Hat Satellite and automation tools such as Ansible.
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems, TCP/IP networking protocols and enterprise server infrastructure.
- Experience supporting Linux systems within VMware virtualised environments.
- Strong scripting and automation skills including Bash, Python, Perl or similar technologies.
- Experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, backup management and disaster recovery practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
