About the Team
Within the Department of Anaesthetics and Pain Management, the Vascular Access and Management Service (VAMS) provides critical care services to children and families in Queensland and bordering states. The VAMS Research Nurse (ReN) provides research leadership and support to the multidisciplinary healthcare team, contributing to studies on intravascular access, device maintenance, and complication management. The ReN also facilitates education, resources, and evidence-based guidance on vascular access device care and the implementation of research findings. The ReN escalates complex or clinical issues to the Nurse Researcher, Project Managers, or Nurse Practitioner as required.
About the Role
This role provides advanced research and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination, and oversight of studies involving patients with complex care needs, ensuring high-quality research standards are met. This role works autonomously within the Healthcare Team structure and is pivotal in the planning, management, and delivery of research projects, including study design, protocol implementation, and data integrity. The ReN provides leadership in professional practice, research translation, and education, and supports portfolio and project management activities.
Autonomy
Practices independently in the recruitment, conduct, data collection, and integrity of research projects.
Provides leadership in research decision-making and coordinates study activities across multidisciplinary teams.
Assumes responsibility for professional leadership of research initiatives in the absence of senior research leadership.
Applies critical thinking across all research domains, including study design, data analysis, and evidence translation.
