Location: Australia – East Coast
Role Summary
The VMware Cloud Foundation Architect is a senior technical authority responsible for the end-to-end architecture, design governance, and technical strategy of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)–based platforms. This role works across pre-sales, delivery, and operations to define scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure architectures aligned to customer business outcomes.
The Architect acts as the design owner and technical escalation point , ensuring architectural consistency, best practices, and long-term platform sustainability across VMware VCF, including vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and the Aria Automation
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Solution Design Own the overall architecture for VMware Cloud Foundation platforms, translating business and non-functional requirements into robust, scalable technical designs. Define reference architectures, design patterns, and standards for VCF-based private and hybrid cloud environments. Lead high-level and low-level design reviews, ensuring architectural alignment with VMware best practices and customer strategy. Technical Authority & Governance Act as the design authority throughout the project lifecycle, approving architecture decisions and managing technical risk. Provide architectural oversight during implementation to ensure solutions are delivered as designed
Skill Requirements
Extensive experience (10+ years) designing and architecting enterprise VMware platforms in production environments.
Deep expertise in VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) , including full-stack architecture across compute, storage, networking, and management layers.
Strong architectural knowledge of:
vSphere
vSAN
NSX
VMware Aria Suite (Automation, Operations, Lifecycle)
Proven experience defining enterprise-grade architectures with high availability, resilience, security, and performance as core design principles.
Strong understanding of automation and orchestration , including VMware Aria, Ansible, PowerShell, or Python.
Excellent stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to present architecture to executive and technical audiences.
Other Requirements
Architecture experience across hybrid and multi-cloud environments , including VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Strong grounding in networking, storage, and security architecture within VMware environments.
Experience applying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps-aligned operational models.
VMware certifications such as VCF 9 Admin, VCF 9 Architect, VCAP or VCDX (are required).
