Over the past nine years, we have been working on the development of our new purpose-built primary school site. The end of 2026 will see the school begin operations at this new site for classes 1-6 with Kindergarten and Playgroup continuing at our Early Childhood Campus in town with further developments in Early Childhood on the horizon.
Port Macquarie Steiner School is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of School to continue on the pathway of ongoing development and lead the community through a period of change and growth. This time will require flexibility and stability as we develop new rhythms across two school campuses and look towards the development of years 7 and 8 in the future.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Head of School is responsible for the overall educational, operational and strategic leadership of the school. Working with collaborative leadership with the Business Manager, Education Co-ordinators, teaching and operations staff, you will guide the delivery of high-quality Steiner education while supporting the school’s vision and strategic direction.
In this role, you will:
- Provide strategic, educational and operational leadership that inspires, guides and motivates the school community.
- Provide whole school oversight and support for the education team, the operations team and the capital works team.
- Lead curriculum development, pedagogy and the application of Steiner education principles across the K-6 program.
- Further develop the Primary and Early Childhood education teams to be effective and support educational delivery and outcomes.
- Work closely with the Business Manager to support effective operational, financial and capital works planning and delivery.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, professional growth and collaboration amongst staff.
- Build connections with staff, students, families, educational networks, peak bodies and the broader community.
- Support implementation of the school’s Strategic Direction
- Provide regular reports to the Board, attend Board meetings, regularly communicate with the Board Chair and work with the Board at the strategic level.
About YOU
You are a collaborative and values-driven educational leader with:
- A deep understanding and commitment to the application of Steiner education
- Proven leadership experience in education with a preference for Steiner school experience.
- The ability to inspire, motivate and develop staff through periods of growth and change.
- Experience leading a school in alignment with the strategic plan.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in an established contemporary approach to relationship building with staff, students and parents.
- The ability to further deepen the understanding of Steiner education amongst staff, families and the wider community.
- Experience engaging with educational and community networks at local, state and national level.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and NSW teacher accreditation, or the ability to obtain it.
