La Petite Société is a European-style wine and cocktail bar located in the heart of Brighton, directly beside Middle Brighton Train Station. We specialise in local and international wines, curated beers and classic cocktails, complemented by a refined menu of European-inspired small plates and shared dishes.
We are currently seeking Cook to join our team with 33 consistent hours per week on Wednesday–Sunday afternoons and evenings.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and organised cook who enjoys working independently within a small, well-run venue.
You will be responsible for:
- Preparing and delivering high-quality European-inspired small plates and shared dishes
- Contributing to the development of seasonal menus
- Managing preparation and service efficiently within a compact kitchen
- Maintaining organisation and workflow during busy service periods
- Assisting with kitchen setup and pack down
- Supporting general duties including dishes to ensure smooth service
- Adhering strictly to food safety and OH&S standards
Our kitchen is very small, so preparation, structure and composure under pressure are essential. Our kitchen is partially open to the bar area, and so you will always feel connected to the front-of house team. Our venue is run by a small, young, enthusastic team, and so the successful applicant must be able to integrate well within this team.
About You
You will ideally have:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant professional kitchen experience
- A genuine passion for European cuisine
- The ability to work independently and manage your section confidently
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The capacity to perform efficiently during busy services
- Excellent communication skills and fluent English
- Availability Wednesday to Sunday (approximately 2–3pm until 10–11pm)
Most importantly, you take pride in your food, your kitchen, and being part of a close, customer-focused team.
What We Offer
- 33 hours per week
- Consistent Wednesday–Sunday roster
- A creative and supportive small-team environment
- Easy public transport access
If you’re passionate about European flavours and enjoy the energy of a small, quality-focused wine bar, we’d love to hear from you.
