Female Disability Support Worker – West Brunswick
JessiCare is seeking a warm, reliable and detail-focused female Disability Support Worker to join an established participant support team in Brunswick.
This role would suit someone who is consistent, attentive and comfortable following carefully developed health, hygiene and environmental procedures while building a genuine and trusting relationship with the participant.
Available Shifts
Regular shifts are currently available on:
- Tuesdays
- Wednesdays
- Thursdays
There may be opportunities for additional shifts in the future.
About the Participant
The participant lives with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), dysautonomia, and several other health conditions. Due to the impact of these conditions, she is currently housebound and receives support within her home.
Building a genuine connection is an important part of this role. The participant values support workers who are warm, engaging and able to share a chat and a laugh while providing respectful and dependable support.
Key Responsibilities
Support will primarily involve:
- Preparing meals and food
- Completing household tasks
- Following detailed hand hygiene procedures
- Maintaining established routines
- Providing companionship and social support
- Building a consistent and trusting working relationship
- Following the participant’s individual health and environmental requirements
Important Health and Environmental Requirements
Due to the participant’s MCAS, she is highly sensitive to fragrances, chemicals and environmental contaminants.
Some routines and procedures may differ from those commonly encountered in other disability support roles. These requirements have been carefully developed to reduce the likelihood of MCAS flare-ups and protect the participant’s health and wellbeing.
The successful applicant must be willing and able to follow all procedures consistently.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be female
- Hold a current driver’s licence and be confident driving
- Be reliable, punctual and consistent
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail
- Be able to follow detailed instructions and established routines
- Be willing to make adjustments to ensure the comfort and health of the participant
- Be comfortable working in a home with a cat
About You
The right person will understand the importance of following the participant’s health and hygiene requirements while still bringing warmth, conversation and companionship to every shift.
You will be respectful, calm and genuinely interested in developing a positive, long-term working relationship with the participant and the organisation.
Experience supporting people with MCAS, chronic illness, dysautonomia or complex health conditions would be highly regarded, but applicants with the right attitude, attention to detail and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
