QMS NDT & NACE is a South Australian and Western Australian owned company providing abrasive blasting, industrial protective coatings, quality assurance, inspection and non-destructive testing services across the defence, mining, infrastructure and manufacturing sectors.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Industrial Sand Blaster to join our expanding Adelaide team. This role involves abrasive blasting and surface preparation of structural steel, fabricated components and industrial equipment within our blast and coating facility and at client sites.
Main Duties
As an Industrial Sand Blaster, your duties will include:
- Prepare steel surfaces using abrasive blasting equipment and approved blasting media.
- Remove rust, scale, coatings and contaminants from steel surfaces.
- Prepare components for protective coating application.
- Operate and maintain blast pots, compressors and associated blasting equipment.
- Inspect blasted surfaces to ensure they meet specified cleanliness and surface profile requirements.
- Safely handle abrasive media and industrial equipment.
- Assist with masking, cleaning and preparation of steel components before and after blasting.
- Load, unload and move steel components using approved lifting equipment.
- Carry out routine maintenance and cleaning of blasting equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.
- Comply with all company quality, safety and environmental procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of relevant abrasive blasting experience.
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Ability to pass a National Police Check.
- Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical, including Drug and Alcohol Screening.
- Current resume with at least two recent work references.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Construction Industry White Card.
- Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application (MSM30216).
- Experience working within defence, mining or heavy industrial environments.
- Experience operating industrial abrasive blasting equipment.
