Primary objective
Support schools, students and families to engage with Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs in the Central and Barkly
regions, increasing uptake of VET related activities, grants and programs through practical administrative assistance, including
planning, promotion, logistics, and reporting.
Context statement
Skills NT’s role is to build a skilled and capable workforce through VET that meets the needs of Territorians, industry and
community. This role works collaboratively with, Industry, community, schools, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and other
government departments to support schools and regions to deliver VET programs that contribute to suitable post-school
destination pathways.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage a range of procurement functions related to school and student access to VET programs, including travel.
2. Provide logistical support around delivery of VET to the Remote Training Hub, including liaison work to coordinate training
delivery blocks and coordination of student accommodation and catering.
3. Assist schools and students with VET enrolment documentation, including the Unique Student Identifier (USI).
4. Support schools to promote VET programs, promote enrolment processes, and increase awareness of student pathways.
5. Assist schools with reporting requirements related to VET activities, including student attendance at VET programs, VET
resulting, NTCET credit recognition and grant acquittal.
6. Support schools to access VET related grants and funding, providing advice on the Grants NT process.
7. Assist schools, students and families with the apprenticeship/traineeship sign up process.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven successful experience in providing administrative support; with a high attention to detail, sound judgement and the
ability to maintain confidentiality.
2. Knowledge of computer-based hardware, systems and applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams and the
ability to quickly learn new systems.
3. Experience working with school students or young adults in a professional setting.
4. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and successfully develop effective partnerships with schools
and other stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work successfully independently and as part
of a team, exercising sound judgement.
6. High level of motivation and ability to monitor and meet changing priorities and deadlines.
Desirable
1. Understanding of Vocational Education and Training
2. Experience working in an education setting (school, TAFE, University).
