Help shape the future of safety at Strait Link.
At Strait Link, we know that strong safety performance starts with strong relationships. That's why we're looking for an experienced Safety Business Partner to join our team and help us continue building a culture where safety is embedded in the way we work, lead and support one another.
This is more than a compliance role. It's an opportunity to influence how safety is understood and practised across a complex and dynamic logistics operation, partnering with leaders and frontline teams to drive meaningful change and build capability across the business.
If you're passionate about creating safer workplaces, enjoy building trusted relationships and want to play a hands-on role in shaping the future of safety, we'd love to hear from you.
Why Strait Link?
For decades, Strait Link has connected Tasmania with mainland Australia, delivering essential freight services that keep businesses, communities and industries moving.
Behind every shipment is a team of people committed to doing the job safely, supporting one another and continually improving the way we work. From our vessels and ports to our warehouses, depots and transport network, we operate in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
As our next Safety Business Partner, you'll have the opportunity to work across a diverse operational landscape, partner with experienced leaders and teams, and contribute to one of Australia's most important freight networks.
What You'll Be Doing
As a trusted advisor, you'll partner with leaders and frontline teams to create a proactive safety culture built on collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will:
- Partner with operational leaders to strengthen safety leadership and accountability.
- Coach and support teams to identify risks and embed safe work practices.
- Lead incident investigations and drive meaningful corrective actions.
- Facilitate risk assessments and support effective critical risk management.
- Maintain and continuously improve our Safety Management System.
- Deliver safety initiatives, audits, reporting and training programs.
- Support compliance with WHS legislation while focusing on practical, operational outcomes.
- Build strong relationships that encourage engagement, ownership and continuous improvement.
About You
You're an experienced safety professional who enjoys working with people just as much as systems and processes. You know that the best safety outcomes come from building trust, influencing behaviour and leading by example.
You'll bring:
- Qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- At least five years' experience in a Safety Advisor, Safety Partner or Safety Business Partner role.
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and contemporary safety practices.
- Experience working with Safety Management Systems, including DoneSafe or a similar platform.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A practical, collaborative approach with the confidence to influence at all levels of the business.
Experience within logistics, transport, warehousing, maritime or other high-risk operational environments will be highly regarded.
What We Offer
At Strait Link, safety isn't just a priority—it's part of who we are.
When you join us, you'll enjoy:
- A genuine opportunity to influence safety culture across a national logistics business.
- A supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Career development and ongoing learning opportunities.
- The opportunity to work closely with experienced operational leaders.
- A business that values innovation, continuous improvement and its people.
