SMEC is seeking an Engineer – Roads & Highways to join our Townsville team. In this role, you'll contribute to the planning, design and delivery of a range of transport infrastructure projects across QLD and Australia.
Working alongside experienced technical specialists and project leaders, you'll apply your engineering expertise to deliver high-quality design solutions while continuing to develop your project management and client engagement capabilities. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with up to three years of experience looking to build their technical expertise and advance their career within a leading multidisciplinary consultancy.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Deliver high-quality roads and highways design outcomes in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, client requirements and SMEC quality systems
Undertake analysis, design and documentation activities across multiple projects
Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications and project documentation
Support the successful delivery of projects through effective planning, coordination and project management practices
Monitor project scope, programme, risks and budgets while maintaining high levels of technical quality
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions
Contribute to safety in design outcomes and proactively identify project risks and opportunities
Suitable applicants will have:
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Up to 3 years of experience in roads and highways engineering design
An understanding of relevant Australian Standards, Austroads guidelines and industry specifications
Experience preparing technical documentation, reports and design deliverables
Strong organisational and project management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
A proactive, client-focused approach and strong attention to detail
The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively across multiple projects
Experience using relevant engineering design software and business systems
An understanding of project delivery, WHS requirements and risk management principles
A commitment to safety in design and continuous professional development
