The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Orthoptist - Senior to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 14 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
Provide clinical orthoptic services in a multidisciplinary environment to various specialties
Demonstrate a high level of skill in paediatric vision and ocular motility assessment.
Use problem solving approach in providing comprehensive care to individuals with complex eye care needs
Demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skills using technical equipment in Ophthalmology
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
Tertiary degree in Orthoptics
Registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board
Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
Paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Permanent part time (30.4 per hours per fortnight)
Base salary ranging from $64.64 - $69.55 per hour
About Us
The Ophthalmology team provides outpatient, inpatient and surgical services to the community within the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. The ophthalmology team consists of staff and visiting ophthalmologists, registrars, orthoptists and outpatient nurses. Subspecialty interests include paediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus, orbital and oculo-plastics, neuro-ophthalmology, medical retina, surgical retina, glaucoma, and anterior segment diseases.
