We are seeking a trade-qualified, detail-oriented Cabinetmaker to join our elite production team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex design concepts and flawless physical execution, ensuring every piece of furniture leaves our facility meeting the highest standards of craftsmanship.
Position Purpose
The Cabinetmaker is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and finishing high-quality commercial furniture and architectural joinery. You will work closely with our design and production teams to interpret detailed blueprints, select premium materials, and utilize both traditional craftsmanship and modern machinery to deliver comfortable, durable, and aesthetically superior furniture solutions.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Technical Execution & Material Selection
- Blueprint Interpretation: Examine and interpret detailed drawings, technical specifications, and digital CAD renderings to determine job requirements, dimensions, and materials.
- Material Management: Select, order, and prepare premium timber, veneers, laminates, and composite materials, ensuring grain matching, structural integrity, and minimal wastage.
- Marking & Outlining: Accurately measure and mark out materials for cutting, shaping, and jointing according to design specifications.
Manufacturing & Assembly
- Machining & Fabrication: Set up and operate specialized woodworking machines, including CNC routers, panel saws, edge-banders, and various power/hand tools to cut and shape components.
- Precision Joinery: Formulate traditional and modern joints (e.g., mortise and tenon, doweling, dovetailing) to ensure structural longevity and seamless design aesthetic.
- Assembly: Assemble prepared timber and board components into final commercial furniture pieces, including cabinetry, executive desks, premium boardroom tables, and custom banquette seating frames.
Quality Assurance & Comfort Optimization
- Hardware & Fitting Integration: Fit premium hardware such as concealed hinges, soft-close drawer runners, locks, and structural brackets.
- Upholstery & Comfort Preparation: Collaborate with the upholstery department to ensure timber frames are built to exact ergonomic specifications, prioritizing seating comfort and structural resilience.
- Finishing & Quality Control: Sand, scrape, and prepare surfaces for specialized finishes (polishing, staining, or lacquered coatings). Inspect completed pieces against strict quality checklists to ensure they meet our "design and comfort" promise.
Installation & Site Operations
- On-Site Fitment: Assist with the careful transport, delivery, and on-site installation of bespoke furniture and architectural joinery within commercial environments.
- Repair & Restoration: Repair, alter, or restore existing high-end timber furniture and fixtures as required.
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Trade Qualification: AQF Certificate III in Cabinet Making (or international equivalent). OR
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of post-qualification experience in cabinet making, joinery, or commercial furniture manufacturing.
- Technical Literacy: Proven ability to read and precisely interpret complex architectural blueprints and manufacturing drawings.
- Machinery Competency: Demonstrated experience safely operating standard workshop machinery (panel saws, thicknessers, spindle moulders) and hand tools.

- An eye for design detail and a deep appreciation for furniture aesthetics, timber grains, and ergonomics.
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot design-to-production challenges on the fly.
