We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Quarry Operator / Truck Driver to support the Quarry Supervisor in the day-to-day operation of Council's quarry. This is a hands-on role where you'll work as part of a skilled and dedicated team responsible for producing high-quality quarry materials that meet industry standards.

As a Quarry Operator / Truck Driver, you'll undertake a broad range of quarry production, plant operation, truck driving, and labouring duties. You'll play an important role in ensuring quarry operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with legislative and quality requirements.
- Safely operate and maintain a range of specialised quarry plant and equipment for which you are licensed and competent.
- Operate articulated haul trucks, excavators, loaders, heavy vehicles, and other quarry equipment.
- Perform general labouring duties to support quarry production and maintenance activities.
- Assist with planning and coordinating daily quarry production and maintenance tasks.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant mining, quarrying, workplace health and safety, and environmental legislation.
- Identify opportunities to improve work practices and contribute to Council's commitment to continuous improvement.
- Work effectively within a multi-disciplined team while maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and members of the public.
- Undertake remote work activities as required.
You are a reliable and motivated team player with experience in quarry operations and heavy machinery. You have a strong commitment to safety, take pride in producing quality work, and can work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
You will demonstrate:
- Sound knowledge of quarry operations, production processes, and plant operation.
- The ability to plan and organise daily quarry production and maintenance activities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think ahead when coordinating work.
- Experience operating specialised plant, equipment, vehicles, and tools safely and efficiently.
- The ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
- The ability to work in remote locations when required.
- A thorough understanding of workplace safety responsibilities within a quarry environment.
Applicants must hold:
- Current Queensland Heavy Combination (HC) Driver Licence (or higher).
- RIIMP0320F – Conduct Civil Construction Excavator Operations.
- RIIMPO321B – Conduct Civil Construction Wheeled Front End Loader Operations.
- RIIMPO337D – Conduct Articulated Haul Truck Operations.
- Construction Industry White Card (or Blue Card).
Applicants must also demonstrate an understanding of their obligations under the:
- Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999
- Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Regulation 2017
It would be advantageous if you have:
- Previous experience in quarry operations.
- Extensive experience operating quarry plant and equipment.
- A strong working knowledge of quarry safety legislation and best practice.
