What’s the role?
The Service Engineer- Cloud Networks is responsible for providing expert services in relation to planning, building, managing, operating, and supporting high performance network infrastructure development, design, and operations for the Westpac Group.
Your key responsibilities may include:
- Design, implementation and development of public cloud network, security infrastructure and associated infrastructure-as-code
- Consultation for new cloud infrastructure patterns and standards
- Providing Technical Level 3 support (and on-call support) for cloud network environments
- Providing input into the development of technology strategies, standards, and governance procedures to support the development of effective infrastructure strategy, standards, and procedures.
- Providing input into the planning of future infrastructure requirements, assess existing infrastructure, conduct all aspects of capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning of specific infrastructure components and liaise with third parties/external support vendors for infrastructure maintenance and upgrades to ensure the stability and availability of technology infrastructure services to the business.
- Providing specialised Third-level support and technical expertise to assist and manage issue resolution, ensuring issues are resolved within a timely manner.
- Engaging with relevant stakeholders to evaluate if infrastructure requirements can be defined in terms of existing or new services to ensure user requirements are understood and appropriately translated into infrastructure requirements.
What do I need?
- Strong experience managing and supporting public cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure and/or GCP environments
- Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts including virtual networks, routing, IP addressing, load balancing, security controls and connectivity services
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and provisioning tools such as Terraform, Python and Ansible
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex network and infrastructure issues
- Understanding of ITIL service management practices, including incident, change and problem management, with experience using tools such as Jira
- Relevant cloud and/or networking certifications (AWS, Azure, CCNA, CCNP or similar) and on-call operational support experience highly regarded
