The Italian Day Centre (IDC) is seeking two organised, motivated and community-minded Casual Meal Delivery Drivers to join our team in Hobart. Based in New Town, we are a friendly, inclusive organisation that values respect, dignity and cultural diversity.
Italian Day Centre (IDC) is a respected, government-funded, not-for-profit aged care provider delivering entry-level aged care services across Tasmania. Our services include a vibrant Day Centre, fresh meal delivery throughout Southern and Northern Tasmania, and social support programs for older people living in the community.
About the Role
As one of the friendly faces of IDC, you will deliver freshly prepared meals to clients living independently in their own homes. This role is about much more than delivering meals—your daily interaction provides reassurance, connection and support to older members of our community.
Main Duties
- Deliver fresh meals safely and efficiently to clients throughout the Hobart region.
- Complete a fortnightly meal delivery run to Launceston.
- Load and unload insulated meal containers.
- Adhere Aged Care Quality Standards and Aged Care Code of Conduct.
- Report any client wellbeing concerns or delivery issues to the office.
- Follow food safety, workplace health and safety policy and procedures.
Hours
- Casual position with 12 paid hours per week for Hobart deliveries.
- Regular delivery days are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
- Fortnightly travel to Launceston is required (more details will be discussed in an interview).
IDC also has an active volunteer program. Employees who are interested are welcome to participate as volunteers outside their paid employment, although participation is entirely optional.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Enjoys driving and working independently.
- Is reliable, organized and punctual.
- Has a warm, friendly manner and enjoys interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Communicates professionally with clients and staff.
- Is physically fit and able to safely load, lift and carry insulated meal containers.
- Is flexible, uses initiative and can adapt to changing delivery schedules when required.
Essential Requirements
- Current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
- Safe driving record.
- Willingness to use your own registered and insured vehicle when IDC vehicles are unavailable.
- National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Working with Vulnerable People Registration (or willingness to obtain).
- Right to work in Australia.
When using your own vehicle for work-related travel, mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with IDC's Vehicle Reimbursement Policy.
