Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Leading Hand
$55–$65/hr + Guaranteed Overtime | Permanent Full-Time | Naval Base, WA
Inland Mechanical is looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team in a senior, hands-on role.
We're looking for someone who knows their trade, is strong on diagnostics and can take ownership of a job from fault finding through to completion.
You'll be trusted to work independently, organise what's required and help keep work moving through the workshop.
The Role
Working across a varied range of heavy vehicles and equipment, you'll be responsible for:
- Servicing, maintenance and repairs
- Complex diagnostics and fault finding
- Engine, driveline, brake, steering and suspension repairs
- Electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic fault finding
- Identifying, sourcing and organising parts
- Managing jobs from diagnosis through to completion
- Assisting with workshop workflow and job priorities
- Providing guidance to apprentices and other tradespeople when required
- Completing clear and accurate job reports
What We're Looking For
- Completed Australian-recognised Heavy Vehicle / Diesel trade qualification
- Strong recent hands-on heavy vehicle experience
- Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding ability
- Broad mechanical repair experience
- Ability to work confidently with minimal supervision
- Ability to organise your own jobs and required parts
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Current driver's licence
- Own trade tools
Leading hand, mentoring or workshop coordination experience is highly regarded, but isn't essential if you're an experienced mechanic ready to take on greater responsibility.
This vacancy is for a qualified tradesperson and is not an apprenticeship or work-experience position.
