Job Description
Vertical Build Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and dedicated Carpenter to join our team in Western Australia. The Carpenter is responsible for delivering high-quality carpentry services across residential and commercial construction projects.
The role requires the ability to interpret construction plans, construct and install timber structures, perform repair and maintenance work, and complete both structural and finishing carpentry. You will utilise a range of hand and power tools, maintain equipment and materials, collaborate with other trades, and ensure all work is completed to Australian standards, company quality requirements, and workplace health and safety regulations. This position requires strong workmanship, attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Plan Analysis: Study drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine materials, dimensions, and installation procedures.
- Material Preparation: Measure, mark, and cut timber, wood substitutes, and other materials using hand and power tools.
- Structural Construction: Construct, assemble, install, and repair frameworks, floors, walls, ceilings, roofs, doors, windows, staircases, and other building structures.
- Fixtures & Fittings: Install interior and exterior fixtures, fittings, partitions, cabinetry, and finish carpentry components.
- Project Execution: Carry out both rough and finish carpentry work for new construction and renovation projects.
- Maintenance & Repair: Repair, maintain, and replace damaged timber structures and fittings on existing buildings.
- Demolition: Deconstruction of retail, and commercial fit outs.
- Hoarding: Constructing of internal and external hoardings.
- Equipment Safety: Operate and maintain carpentry tools, machinery, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect completed work to ensure strict compliance with plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Surface Prep: Repaint and prepare surfaces where required as part of repair and renovation works.
- Inventory Control: Maintain inventories of materials, equipment, and tools required for construction and maintenance activities.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, and other trades to coordinate construction activities and ensure timely project completion.
- WHS Compliance: Undertake workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
In accordance with ANZSCO guidelines, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A relevant trade qualification in Carpentry (e.g., Certificate III in Carpentry) or an equivalent international qualification.
- Experience:
- Relevant post-qualification industry experience will be highly considered.
- Installation of TITAN Hoarding Systems, min 2 years’ experience
- Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of carpentry techniques, construction methods, and building regulations.
- Safety: Deep understanding of workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements.
Optional / Desired Skills
- Certifications: Valid Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- Licences: Current Australian Driver’s Licence and reliable transport.
- Tools: Own trade-specific tools and PPE.
- Language: Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
Pay: $79,500.00 – $85,000.00 per year
