Market Advisor ANZ, Healthcare
Enterprise Ireland (EI) is the trade and innovation agency of the Government of Ireland with responsibility to support Irish companies to start, scale, compete and connect internationally. Enterprise Ireland ANZ has responsibility of supporting clients’ entering and scaling across Australia and New Zealand from its Sydney and Melbourne offices.
Enterprise Ireland ANZ is recruiting for a Market Advisor to be based in its Sydney office. This role will lead Enterprise Ireland’s Healthcare, Digital Health and Life Sciences portfolio in Australia and New Zealand, helping Irish companies access opportunities arising from health system reform, digital transformation, hospital innovation, ageing populations and demand for productivity-enhancing clinical technologies.
While the role is predominantly focused on healthcare, including digital health, medtech and life sciences, it may also include selected sports tech projects and/or other digital technology sub-sector projects at the discretion of the Overseas Manager.
Sector and client portfolios are regularly reviewed and may be adjusted in line with Enterprise Ireland priorities, market opportunities and the needs of client companies.
The successful individual will work as a core member of a dynamic team; consulting and advising Enterprise Ireland client companies on their strategy for development and growth; proactively working with Irish businesses to ensure they grow their market share in ANZ and to initiate and implement a range of sales, partner and marketing led activities, utilising their consultancy skills and contact base.
The position will also involve representing Enterprise Ireland in the business community and increasing the awareness of Ireland as a trusted source of innovation and EI as a conduit through to that source.
Key Deliverables:
· Contribute to the development and execution of Enterprise Ireland ANZ’s strategy for supporting Irish healthcare, digital health, life sciences and aligned sports tech companies to access and scale in Australia and New Zealand.
· Manage a focused portfolio of Irish client companies, developing and implementing robust market development plans that support measurable export growth, market entry, sales pipeline development and partner engagement.
· Provide strategic advice to client companies on ANZ market dynamics, value proposition, competitive positioning, route-to-market options, procurement pathways, regulatory considerations and commercial partnership models.
· Identify and convert market opportunities arising from health system reform, digital transformation, hospital innovation, ageing populations, data-led care, productivity improvement and performance-related technologies.
· Build and maintain senior-level relationships with healthcare providers, government agencies, hospital groups, industry associations, accelerators, distributors, channel partners and relevant sports tech and performance networks.
· Connect Enterprise Ireland client companies with qualified buyers, partners, mentors and in-market supports, ensuring engagements are commercially focused and aligned with client growth objectives.
· Deliver agreed KPIs and activity targets for the portfolio, including market intelligence, buyer introductions, market meetings and itineraries, trade development initiatives, events, advisory projects and commercial outcomes.
· Plan and deliver targeted marketing, PR, trade, networking and thought-leadership activities that raise awareness of Irish capability in healthcare, digital health, life sciences and related innovation sectors across ANZ.
· Work collaboratively with ANZ, APAC and Ireland-based sector teams to share intelligence, align client priorities, contribute to sector strategy and deliver integrated support for Irish companies.
· Represent Enterprise Ireland professionally with business, government, media and Irish state agency stakeholders, promoting Ireland as a trusted source of innovative, export-ready solutions.
· Contribute proactively to the wider ANZ and APAC teams by identifying emerging market trends, proposing new initiatives and supporting cross-sector opportunities that can accelerate Irish export growth.
Functional Competencies
· Significant recent experience in business development, sales, partnerships, market development, international trade, consultancy, healthcare innovation, digital health, life sciences, technology or a related commercial role is essential.
· Strong understanding of the ANZ healthcare and/or technology market is essential, including buyer behaviour, procurement pathways, ecosystem dynamics, policy developments and commercial trends, with the ability to translate market insights into export opportunities for Irish companies.
· Proven stakeholder engagement experience, including building senior stakeholder networks, identifying decision-makers, generating qualified opportunities and converting market intelligence into commercial outcomes for clients is essential.
· Demonstrated consulting, influencing and relationship-management skills, with the ability to advise and challenge companies on market entry, commercial positioning, sales strategy, partner development, competitor analysis and go-to-market planning is essential.
· Strong project management and administrative skills, including portfolio management, CRM utilisation, pipeline tracking, event delivery and KPI reporting.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to represent Enterprise Ireland credibly and collaborate effectively across geographically dispersed teams and senior external audiences.
· High level of initiative, adaptability and sound judgement, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, while contributing positively to wider team goals.
· This role requires working across multiple time zones. Flexibility is essential to manage client portfolios and engage with global markets and Irish sector teams, with evening calls and travel an ongoing requirement.
· Ability and willingness to travel throughout Australia, including our second office in Melbourne, New Zealand, and APAC and Ireland as required.
· A relevant third-level qualification is desirable.

Salary:
AUD 116,625 – 134,181
Candidates should note that entry will be at the minimum of the relevant scale and the rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Subject to satisfactory performance, increments may be payable in line with current Government Policy.
