Job Description
Civil Engineer
Daily tasks include
- Execute pre-design engineering planning for design projects including preparation of concept plans, collating existing service information, Authorities design standards, development cost estimates, detail design and documentation all to the requirements of the project brief.
- The incumbent reports to the Directors.
- Monitor service applications and plan approvals with Authorities for allocated projects and maintain the QA system that displays salient dates during the subdivision design process.
- Assistance in the engineering planning process so that projects are sufficiently planned in order that detail design can be undertaken efficiently and within budget.
- Liaison with Authorities to determine conditions and requirements for the specific project being undertaken.
- Prepare applications for conditions to Service Authorities.
- Prepare correspondence to issue to Authorities clients.
- Prepare concept layout plans to comply with the Planning Permit, Municipal and Service Authority standards and Client requirements.
- Ensure allocated designs are carried out to accord with design and project programme.
- Facilitate the smooth transition of work from design to drafting to satisfy project requirements.
- Co-ordinate design work on projects under the direction of the Directors and with designers in a “team” approach.
- Prepare feasibilities including obtaining servicing requirements and any correspondence the project requires.
- Independent checking of plans and “taking off” quantities for Bills of Quantities as required.
- Maintain a high level of technical expertise in particular land development engineering.
- Attend designated courses and training sessions.
- Ensure the proper and accurate two-way flow of information relation to the allocated projects.
- Within the overall company program and policy, promote and market the Company from time to time as may be appropriate.
- When in client contact, establish and maintain profile for the Company.
- Assist with the preparation of job submissions including project budgets and timetables as directed by a Director, Engineering Designer or Senior Engineer.
- Ensure that the final design for projects meets with Authorities and clients’ requirements and statutory regulations and compliance with relevant Australian Standards.
- Ensure all design activities for allocated projects are undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the Company quality system.
- Assist Group Quality Coordinator implementing and reviewing corrective actions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role
- Experience in land development/subdivisions
- Knowledge of local government and service authority requirements
- Project coordination and contract management experience
- Experience with earthworks, stormwater, sewer, water reticulation and road design.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to liaise with engineers and other stakeholders
- The ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
Annual salary: $83,700 per annum + superannuation (40 proposed hours of work per week)
Pay: $83,700.00 per year
