What’s the role?
Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) is seeking a Credit Analyst to join its Real Estate industry team in a permanent role based in Sydney. WIB supports the financial needs of corporate, institutional and government clients across Australia and New Zealand, with the Real Estate team providing financing solutions to a diverse portfolio of property-related customers.
The team works with a broad range of clients, including A-REITs, unlisted wholesale property fund managers, developers, contractors, private investors, sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. These clients operate across major property sectors such as retail, residential, office and industrial, as well as specialised real estate markets.
As a Credit Analyst, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality credit analysis and supporting sustainable lending decisions within a wholesale banking environment. Working closely with Relationship Managers, you will provide customer and industry insights, assess credit proposals, manage portfolio risk, and contribute to a market-leading client experience.
Key responsibilities include conducting due diligence, analysing financial performance and forecasts, preparing detailed credit submissions, evaluating opportunities against business strategy and underwriting standards, and presenting recommendations through WIB’s credit approval process. You will also assist in structuring lending proposals and negotiating outcomes to support final approval by Credit Officers.
This role offers the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge of the real estate sector while working with an industry-leading team recognised for its expertise in structured property finance, capital markets access, transaction execution and client-focused solutions. The position is ideal for an analytically minded professional looking to build a career in institutional banking, credit risk and commercial real estate finance within a highly collaborative and high-performing environment.
What do I need?
- 3 years experience in wholesale banking or a related field, ideally with experience in commercial credit writing.
- Corporate Finance experience within one or more of the following sectors of Real Estate, Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Finance or Accounting industry will be well regarded.
- Sound verbal and written communication and influencing skills to manage significant relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience applying a risk mindset and commercial acumen.
- Client interaction and relationship management experience would be beneficial.
A relevant tertiary qualification.
