We are seeking a very experienced/accomplished Head Chef / Sous Chef to lead and elevate our café kitchen.
It is an excellent opportunity for a motivated culinary professional who values work–life balance, offering Monday to Friday hours only — no weekends required and no evenings.
About the Role
* Lead daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service
* Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
* Oversee food preparation, ordering, stock control, and cost management
* Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace standards
* Train, mentor, and support junior kitchen team members
* Contribute to menu development, including seasonal updates and daily specials
* Work collaboratively with front-of-house to deliver an exceptional customer experience
* Take a hands-on approach in all aspects of kitchen operations
About You
* Proven experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef, or similar role in a café or restaurant environment
* Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., Certificate III in Commercial Cookery)
* Strong leadership, communication, and multitasking abilities
* Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
* Solid understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene, and inventory management
* A hands-on leader who leads by example in day-to-day operations
* Calm, level-headed, and solution-focused, with the ability to remain professional under pressure
* Resilient and composed, with the ability to handle challenges without becoming unsettled by minor issues
* Reliable, punctual, well-organised, and a positive leader
* Strong communication skills
* Available to work Monday to Friday, early mornings (early start – early finish)
Public Holidays off and 2 weeks break over Christmas period
