About the Role
The Concord Haematology Department delivers world-class tertiary Haematology clinical care, supported by active clinical, translational, and basic research. As one of the largest Haematology Clinical Research Units in NSW, we have recruited over 1000 patients to more than 140 trials since 2005.
Our Clinical Research Unit is led by Dr Nicole Wong Doo (Director) and Jennifer Harman (Manager). Our unit is staffed by a Clinical Coordination Division of five Registered Nurses and five Clinical Research Coordinators, all with tertiary science qualifications. Our highly skilled Business Operations Division efficiently meet our regulatory and reporting obligations, and support the team in various high-level administrative functions, in clinical trials governance and financial management. Ten haematologist investigators are supported by several clinical research fellows.
Our broad portfolio with 28 currently recruiting trials and 32 trials in follow-up is particularly strong in trials in lymphoproliferative diseases. As a national leader in accessing emerging therapies, our unit has a high proportion of patients referred for clinical trial participation both within Sydney and across NSW and ACT.
In this role you will be required to:
- Assist with patient assessment for clinical trial eligibility, supporting recruitment activities and providing clear information to patients regarding trial requirements and treatments.
- Coordinate and conduct patient study visits, including arranging and performing diagnostic investigations within scope of practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in eMR systems and ensure clinical trial data is up to date across all required databases (Self training on databases is required within the scope of the role).
- Coordinate the collection, processing, storage, and transport of pathology specimens in accordance with protocol and regulatory requirements. Adequate training will be provided.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to ensure required clinical data is available for data entry and central review.
- Participate in and coordinate monitoring visits with external sponsors, pharmaceutical companies, and research organisations.
- Ensure accurate recording and maintenance of clinical trial data to meet Sydney LHD and study-specific contractual obligations.
- Undertake primary responsibility for allocated clinical trials as both Lead and Backup Study Coordinator.
Act as the primary liaison and project coordinator for assigned studies, ensuring effective study conduct and stakeholder communication.

Ideal Candidate
- Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking.
- Effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
- Clinical Research/Clinical Trial experience is desirable.
- Ability to work Mon-Fri shifts with the potential for occasional overtime, to meet Blood sampling requirements. Flexible working hours between 0700 – 1730hrs.
